Our Story

A community-based art studio

Charm City Clay is a community-based ceramics studio founded by Baltimore artists Wayman Scott and Vanna Ramirez, who joined forces to bring the experience of clay to East Baltimore.

Both a teaching and production studio, Charm City Clay offers ceramics classes for all skill levels — from beginners to advanced artists. The studio also serves as a hub for design and fabrication of public art, supporting creative collaboration and community engagement.

Founders Vanna Ramirez and Wayman Scott are highly experienced, credentialed artists whose work has been exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally.

Join the Charm City Clay community to explore, learn, and create — and discover new opportunities to work with clay!

Reclaiming Industrial Spaces

Charm City Clay is located in an industrial pocket of the Highlandtown Arts District in East Baltimore. Nestled inside the historic former Crown Cork & Seal building, dating back to the early 1900s, our studio blends Baltimore’s rich industrial past with a thriving creative community.

Come to the studio to explore your creativity, take a class, join a workshop, or simply get inspired by local artists at work. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced potter, Charm City Clay offers a welcoming space to get your hands dirty and make something beautiful.factory and build with us.
